How changing a Family Record to Inactive or Deceased affects Member Status

If the Family status is changed to Inactive or Deceased, Gabriel will automatically mark the Members Inactive as well. However, there are exceptions to this rule as noted below:

  • Members will not automatically be marked as Inactive if your church is part of a Diocesan Initiative. 
  • If you change the Family record to Deceased and some Members are currently marked as  Deceased and others are currently Active, the system will only change the Active members to an  Inactive status.

To change the Family Status, follow the instructions below:

Click on  Families via the top navigation bar and select Family Explorer.

Filter the Family Name column to locate and open the Family Record.

Click on the Family Status dropdown, and select Deceased or Inactive.
